Admission criteria

     
 

This master course is suspended due to an internal reorganisation at the UPC to conform to the Bologna agreement.

Online applications will be sent to the MAS Management team and will include the following documents: (i) application form, (ii) curriculum vitae, (iii) copies of relevant certificates and teaching records, (iv) a letter of interest in the programme and expected professional output and (v) three references. These documents will also be submitted as hard copies, by post. Applicants will also be asked to submit transcripts of their degrees, stating subjects taken and marks obtained (if the documents are not written in English or French, a translation of their contents will be requested). To be a successful candidate the student: (i) must present an appropriate academic background and bachelor qualification related to the MAS programme; (ii) must demonstrate academic excellence, as proven by transcripts and references; (iii) must clearly expose the reasons of choosing the MAS programme; (iv) must demonstrate higher education English language knowledge; (v) must justify their solvency to cover the MAS expenses (fees, living costs, travels, etc.).

The MaS registration fee for the academic year 2007-2008 is € 6000,--.

Assessment

Overall marks will take into account the combined scores for the taught modules in each semester. Module Tests will consist of up to one hour of test for every twenty hours of lectures.  Assigned Work components for the modules comprises problem sheets, practical exercises, field work, and performance in seminars and tutorials. In order to qualify for inclusion, all work and assignments will have to be submitted by the deadlines specified to the TM leader. Details will be given in each module description.
In order to proceed to the research project in the second semester, students must achieve a minimum standard in their overall work as well as acquiring the requisite number of Credits.
 
Note the following additional conditions:
 
1. To continue with the second semester after the first one the students must pass each module with a score of 60% or higher and attain the full 38 credits. Before starting their final project the students are required to have finished the second semester moduless with a score of 60% or higher and have a total of 68 credits.

2. Students who have obtained a too low score and do not satisfy the requirements to pass the first semester or to start with their final project may, at the discretion of the Master Academic Committee (MAC), be allowed to be re-examined.
